The Red-browed Finch is native to the east coast of Australia. It prefers to live near brooks and forest edges.
The red-browed finch is an Australian bird easily recognizable by its red beak and the bright red colouring around its eyes and tail. They are usually seen searching for food on the ground in flocks of about 10. The red-browed finch is frequently seen with the superb fairy wren, which is interesting since their song is quite similar. The red-browed finch builds a large, domed nest with an entrance tunnel on the side about 1-2 metres above the ground.
The adult birds build the nest together and also take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks. The young birds are entirely independent within four weeks, so the adults can have 2-3 clutches in one season.
DecoBird comes in a windowed display box and includes a short informative booklet about the species.
Decobirds is a series of hand carved linden wood birds. This series is constantly being expanded with new favourites.
